Aligarh Muslim University Alumni Association Qatar (AMUAAQ), an associate organisation of ICBF under the aegis of the Embassy of India, Qatar played their second match for the Centenary Trophy as AMU, Aligarh, marked 100 years of establishment in 2020.
The match was played between AMUAAQ 11 and AMU Challengers at APL ground in Al-Thumama yesterday (Feb 26). The match was won AMU Challengers by seven wickets, with the team taking a 2-0 lead. Osama Anwar of AMU Challengers was the 'man of the match.'
Brief scores: AMUAAQ XI: 152/4 in 15 overs (Habib 61, Farrukh 32, Faisal 11*; Imtiyaz 15/1, Harshit 1/17) lost to AMU Challengers: 157/3 in 15 overs (Osama 73*, Jeetu 34*, Sanjeev 16; Rupan 1/21) by 7 wickets.
The match was held in accordance with Covid-19 protocols. AMUAAQ president Jawed Ahmad lauded the players and members for their outstanding performances and support. He reiterated that a second team with the name AMU Indians will be formed soon. A sumptuous breakfast was served to all participants and the match was concluded with a discussion about the Covid-19 precautionary measures.
