The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) has taken action against 47 companies for their failure to comply with Covid-19 precautionary measures.

These included violations of the decision to limit the number of workers transported by buses to half the vehicles' capacity, not maintaining a safe distance between workers as they boarded or alighted from buses, and not wearing masks, the ministry said in a statement on its website.

The companies were involved in construction works in Lusail and the Industrial Area, according to the statement.

The violations were detected during inspection campaigns conducted by the MADLSA, represented by the Labour Inspection Department, at worksites and workers' housing units.

The campaigns were carried out to ensure that companies complied with the decisions issued by the ministry with regard to the precautionary measures that must be applied by companies to limit the spread of Covid-19.

All violating companies were referred to the competent authorities to take necessary action in this regard, the MADLSA said.

The ministry has urged all companies to adhere to the decisions and procedures in force in the country to ensure the safety of all.
