The designated authorities referred 637 people to the Public Prosecution for violating the precautionary and preventive measures enforced by the country to curb the spread of Covid-19, Qatar News Agency reported on Tuesday.

Of them, 557 people were referred to the Public Prosecution for not wearing masks in places where they are mandatory, while 59 were found violating the rule limiting the number of people allowed in a vehicle.

According to the rule, a maximum of four persons – including the driver – are allowed in a vehicle except when the occupants are members of the same family.

Also, six persons were referred to the Public Prosecution for not maintaining a safe physical distance, six persons for not complying with quarantine requirements and nine others for not installing the Ehteraz app on their mobile phones, the report said.

The measure is in line with a Cabinet decision and Decree Law No 17 of 1990 on infectious diseases, and the precautionary and preventive measures in force in the country to contain the spread of the coronavirus, the Ministry of Interior said on Twitter.

The authorities have called on the public to adhere to the Covid-19 precautionary and preventive measures for their safety and that of others.
