Qatar Airways has announced ticket booking and travel extensions for healthcare professionals who benefited from the airline's ticket giveaway initiative last year.
"To all the healthcare professionals who received our medics campaign giveaway, we have more good news for you," the airline tweeted Sunday.
"If you haven’t been able to book your ticket or travel to date due to the pandemic, fret not as the booking date will be extended to 30 September, 2021 with travel valid until 31 March, 2022, subject to availability. Details will be emailed to you. Thank you for your heroic efforts," it explained.
In 2020, Qatar Airways had given away 100,000 free tickets to frontline healthcare professionals to “say thank you for their heroic work looking after people” during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Healthcare professionals from every country in the world were eligible for tickets.
The giveaway opened early morning on May 12 last year and closed at 11.59pm on May 18 (Doha time).
Healthcare professionals had to register here for the exclusive offer by submitting a form to receive a unique promotion code, offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Tickets had to be booked before November 26, 2020, with travel valid until December 10, 2020, according to the earlier announcement.
The 100,000 healthcare professionals who received the promotion code could book up to two complimentary economy class return tickets on Qatar Airways-operated flights – one for themselves and one for a companion – to anywhere on the airline’s global network.
The tickets were fully flexible, with an unlimited number of destination or date changes allowed without any fees, the airline had said.
