Maj. Gen. Dr Abdullah Yusuf al-Mal, adviser to HE the Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Follow-up Committee for the Implementation of the Global Programme of the Doha Declaration issued by the 13th UN Crime Congress, yesterday met Japanese ambassador Kazuo Sunaga.
The meeting, according to a statement by the Ministry of Interior (MoI), was part of preparations for the 14th UN Crime Congress, which Japan will host this year.
“Qatar welcomes Japan’s hosting of the 14th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice which will complete the achievements made within the framework of the outcomes of the Doha Congress held in 2015”, al-Mal said. 
He stressed that the Global Programme of the Doha Declaration had accomplished many successful initiatives and projects to confront crime and establish its rule of law and justice, which benefited 166 countries worldwide. The Japanese ambassador explained his country’s preparations for a successful organisation of the 14th UN Crime Congress, which will discuss many important issues related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and their achievement across society with all its members. He praised the outstanding successes accomplished by the 13th Congress hosted by Doha five years ago at all levels, especially the implementation of the Congress’ outcomes and the notable initiatives that contributed to a significant role in confronting crime.
He added that the 14th Crime Congress will continue to build on the Doha Congress’ positive results.
