Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Al Wakra Hospital has announced that its Obstetrics Department will be temporarily transferred to the Intensive Care Unit at the same hospital until some necessary maintenance and renovation works are completed.

The transfer to the new location is scheduled to take place on Sunday and Monday and services will resume as usual at the original location once maintenance works are completed, HMC said in an announcement on social media on Saturday.

Patients seeking care at the Obstetrics Department during this period will have to proceed to Gate No 3 to reach the temporary location instead of the main entrance to the Obstetrics & Gynecology Department.

Dr Lolwa al-Ansari, head of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Al Wakra Hospital, said the department provides expectant women with first-class prenatal healthcare services, which include care at outpatient clinics, labour rooms, surgery and inpatient care, in addition to general obstetric and gynaecologic care.

A high standard of patient and family privacy and confidentiality is adhered to throughout their healthcare path, Dr al-Ansari stressed.

Fayrooz Abu-Essa, head nurse at Al Wakra Hospital’s Labour Room, said services at the Obstetrics Department will not be affected by the temporary transfer as the department will remain fully operational throughout the expansion and renovation works period.
