* Gyms shut for 1 week each

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has announced the closure of two gyms, located at The Pearl-Qatar and Al Mashaf, for a period of one week each for violating the ministry's circulars regarding precautionary and preventive measures put in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and preserve public health.
The inspection campaign comes as part of the MoCI's "keen efforts to monitor and regulate markets and commercial activities across Qatar, and to monitor the degree of compliance with laws and regulations governing commercial activities, as well as following up on compliance with the ministry's circulars regarding the precautionary and preventive measures", a press statement noted.
The MoCI stressed that it would neither tolerate any negligence in terms of meeting obligations stipulated in Law No 5 of 2015 on Commercial, Industrial and Similar Public Shops, and Street Vendors, nor would it allow violation of the circulars regarding precautionary and preventive measures to preserve public health.
The ministry has assured that it intends to intensify its inspection campaigns to curb violating practices. Any party who violates laws and ministerial decisions will be referred to the competent authorities, who will take appropriate measures against the violators to protect consumer rights. The MoCI has also urged all citizens and residents to report any violations or infractions related to registration and commercial licensing, or any violation of the precautionary and preventive measures through the following channels: call centre: 16001, Twitter: @MOCIQATAR, and Instagram: MOCIQATAR.
