The Fire Station: Artist in Residence has unveiled ‘Acts of Listening from Future Generations’, an exhibition curated by David Suarez Mira, who participated in its International Curator in Residence programme in 2020.
Mira invites the audience to submerge their minds in the world of sound in an experience focusing on sonic reflections promoted by artists and the environment.
The exhibition features the sonic art experiences of artists Sonic Jeel, Mubarak Althani, Alya al-Khalifa, Guillaume Rouseré, Robin Pender, Mariam Rafehi, Sebastián Betancur, Ivan Aleksic, Ilija Aritonovic and Asma Derouiche, Qatar Museums has said in a statement.
Mira is a journalist, museum adviser and independent curator. He is a candidate for the MA in Curatorial Practice at the School of Visual Arts (New York) and has an MA in Museum Studies and Cultural Heritage Management from the National University of Colombia.
His research interests centre on the permanent transformation of cultural appropriation in migratory processes and local traditions through new electronic, sculptural, performative and socially engaged narratives. Mira’s projects focus on developing a dynamic relationship between the audience and artists in multiple transmedia and community-based formats.
