Striking harmony between heritage and modernity The Ritz-Carlton, Doha has unveiled the beautifully redesigned Grand Amiri Suites.
The “exquisite suites” mark the final stage of extensive renovations as the hotel embarks on a “new era of legendary hospitality”, according to a press statement issued by Katara Hospitality.
“The transformation of our hotel over these past five years has truly redefined luxury in Doha,” says Carlo Javakhia, acting general manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Doha. “With the exquisite Grand Amiri Suites now complete, we look forward to continuing to be the unmatched luxury destination of choice for travellers in Doha. We are excited to further strengthen our ties with the local community here as the hotel evokes its unique sense of place in the heart of Qatar.”
Expanding the exclusive accommodation’s versatility and emphasising breakthrough technologies, the “dynamic and flexible new layout and strikes a visual appeal for business retreats, weddings and VIP leisure stays”, the statement noted. The reimagined suites tell an architectural story, which honours the city of Doha, its local artists, inspired by the city’s own natural and visual surroundings.
Located on the third floor, the redesigned Katara Suite takes inspiration from Qatari history. ‘Catara’ was the first and most ancient name designated for the Qatar Peninsula in geographic and historical maps. The suite’s design reflects the movement of the sea and sand, where historically inhabitants used to dive for pearls in the Arabian Gulf using boats called dhows, the statement explained.
The Ivory Suite on the upper floor is inspired by the trade between Qatar with Europe when it was thriving during the 17th to 19th centuries with oysters that produced pearls of intense beauty. The creamy white colours used throughout the suite are accented in black and gold, providing a contemporary touch of European flair.
The design spirit of the Quartz Suite is inspired by the intensity of quartz that reflects throughout the suite. Providing a continuous soft glow to the space from dawn through dusk are subtle globe lights and walls that are accented with Italian gold. The colour palette of the suite evokes earthy minerals such as translucent quartz and black onyx accented with metallic brass, bronze and silver tones.
Qatar’s unbridled passion for cars and motorsports inspired the aerodynamic, masculine look of the Cobalt Suite. The suite’s leather wall panels pay homage to luxury automobile interiors with cobalt blue from the curtains to the carpet, serving as a fitting tribute to race cars.
The four Ritz-Carlton, Doha suites offer contemporary technology and furniture from Giorgetti and Christopher Guy. The suite’s design palettes are highlighted by vibrant pops of colour and custom-curated collections from famed local artists.
Also new to the suites are the opulent master bathroom features; a multi-head dual shower, soaker tub and an added luxury Calacatta Oro, Black Sahara & Gold Onyx marble from Italy. Expansive views of Doha can be seen from the spacious living rooms, dining and work areas of each suite. The Katara Suite additionally offers an outdoor terrace with a comfortable seating area to enjoy the sun and scenic vistas.
In addition to the exciting design transformations, guests of the Grand Amiri Suites will enjoy complimentary Ritz-Carlton Club Lounge access, in-room breakfast daily, and complimentary two-way transfers to the airport.
