Carrefour Qatar, in collaboration with Al Wakra Municipality, hosted a beach clean-up in Al Wakra on January 25.
The event, which was attended by 30 volunteers, is the one of the many Carrefour-led sustainability initiatives set to follow throughout 2021.
“We continue to organise initiatives that align with our mission to set the standard for being a sustainable, responsible, self-sufficient business. As we grow, we strive to uplift our surrounding communities by giving them the opportunity to actively take part in events focused on environmental conservation,” Carrefour Qatar country manager Laurent Hausknecht said in a statement.
“We thank Al Wakra Municipality for their partnership and appreciate the participation of our colleagues and all the volunteers who took part,” he added.
Several members of Carrefour’s management as well as colleagues from the brand’s head office and Carrefour’s Al Wakra store participated in the event.
Carrefour’s sustainability plan includes several initiatives, such as cleaning beaches, running no plastic days in-store, and encouraging customers to shop with reusable bags.
