To update the teaching faculty of MES Indian School about the latest developments and the transformational reforms as proposed in the National Education Policy 2020 to be adapted in the CBSE schools, MES Indian School Principal Hameeda Kadar recently conducted an orientation session entitled, ‘A Bird’s Eye View on the National Education Policy – 2020’ for two days recently at the KG auditorium of the school.
The session covered different topics extensively which included the evolution of the education policy and the amendments made to it, the major reforms effected in school education, introduction of the early childhood care and education (ECCE) scheme, universalisation of education from pre-school to secondary level with 100% gross enrolment ratio in school education by 2030.
The new policy provides great scope and special provision for gifted learners. As per the new pedagogy, the learning should be holistic, integrated, enjoyable and engaging. The school curriculum has been restructured into a 5+3+3+4 design and it will do away with the existing traditional 10+2 model.
Moreover, reduction in curriculum with core essentials, critical thinking, interactive classes, and experiential learning will be the added features of the new policy, outlined the school principal.
The National Education Policy, which is a comprehensive framework for elementary education, higher education as well as vocational training in both rural and urban India, aims to transform India’s education system, added the presenter. The session concluded with an interactive question-answer session. Sameena Ashfaq and Shravya Viddesh Manjrekar welcomed the gathering while Mehvish Meharaj and Rema Devi, co-ordinator Department of English, proposed a vote of thanks on the first and second day of the orientation, respectively.
