Al Shaqab, Member of Qatar Foundation, celebrated three winners on third and penultimate day of the 23rd Qatar National Arabian Horse Show at Longines Indoor Arena in Al Shaqab yesterday. As many as 124 horses strutted around the arena for class honours.
First up was Lamy Al Shaqab, who impressed the judges the most in Colts two-year-olds Class 7B and amassed 91.25 points for the win. The grey colt will be joined in today’s medals round by Abdulla Mohamed al-Marri’s Bahi Al Safinat who was awarded 90.88 points for his second place.
Later, Qamriya Al Shaqab won Class 9A for Mares 4-6-year-olds with a points haul of 92.75. Second in the class with 92 points was Al Salem Stud’s D Fala.
Masroura Al Shaqab topped Class 9B for Mares 4-6-year-olds after the judges awarded her 91.88 points, and will head to the championship round along with Seef Mohamed Salem al-Hajri’s Ehsan Al Shahania. The latter edged out Magna MS on type after the two contenders collected 91.38 points each.
Earlier in the day, Nasser Mohamed Mesfer al-Hajri’s Najla Umm Aludham won the opening class of the third day, Fillies three-year-olds Class 5, having earned 91.75 points in the win. Stablemate Ahood Umm Aludham missed out on an appearance in Monday’s championship round after losing out on type to RK Najd Shazin, owned by Al Shaqab, Member of Qatar Foundation, after the duo were locked in at 91.38 points.
Al Khor Stud’s Halul Al Khor was the first winner of the day among the colts, after being adjudged as the winner of Colts two-year-olds Class 7A with 91 points. Suhail Stud’s Arrab Al Shahania was runner-up with 90 points.
Al Reeh Stud’s Amir Al Reeh topped Colts three-year-olds Class 8 after earning 91.63 points from the six judges, and will line up for championship honours alongside second-placed RB Ghazi (90.75 points), owned by Mohamed Ali al-Kuwari, from the class.
Today, four classes for stallions will get underway, followed by six championship rounds – Yearling Fillies, Yearling Colts, Junior Fillies, Junior Colts, Senior Mares and Senior Stallions.
