Police defended their Qatar Volleyball League title after they routed Al Khor 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-13) at the Al Arabi Indoor Hall yesterday. With the win, Police reaped an unassailable 43 points, with the Qatar SC and Al Arabi are on 36 and 31 points respectively. Vennon Oliver scored match-high 16 points for the winners, while Robson Van Der Maas scored 11 points for Al Khor.
This is the fourth time that the Police team have lifted the Qatar Volleyball League title and they were rewarded with QR250,000 and the shield for it. The Police team, guided by Argentinian coach Damian Arredendo, have had a splendid run this season, going on a 12-match winning run. They dropped only two sets during that period, and have won most of their matches with ease. The Gulf champions’ winning run was halted by Al Rayyan in a hard-fought five-setter 15 days back. But they bounced back to win their next two matches to take the unassailable lead.  The battle for the second spot in the ten-team league is now between Qatar SC, Al Arabi and Al Ahli. Qatar Volleyball Association President Ali Ghanem al-Kuwari crowned the winners.
