Jassim Al Jaham al-Kuwari combined superbly with his mount Monopoly to claim top honours in the eighth round dressage competition of the Longines Hathab Qatar Equestrian Tour supported by The Social and Sport Contribution Fund which was held at the Qatar Equestrian Federation’s indoor arena yesterday.
Al-Kuwari topped the Medium (Level 1) competition on his gelding bay tallied a cumulative score of 68.659 points to collect valuable points and a prize of QR4,950. Maryam Ahmed al-Semaitt on dark bay Rhythm finished second (66.463pts) while Asma Yasser Mohammed on Leslie Ann 2 (64.756) was third.
In the Prelim (Level 2) Test 2D dressage, Ghanem Nasser al-Qadi on Andreas SPB Z scored 74,348 points to finish first ahead of Mohamed Salem al-Marri riding Green (73,261). Maryam Ahmed al-Semaitt finished third with her horse Special Edition 19 tallying 70,870 points.
Omar al-Mannai, Vice-Chairman, Organising Committee Longines Hathab and Abdullah al-Marri, Chairman of the Future Knights Committee, honoured the podium finishers of the two events.
Speaking on the occasion, al-Mannai said, “The dressage championship is seeing an increased participation and Longines Hathab has become a breeding ground for young riders as registration continues throughout the season.”
He also said that the association between Al Shaqab and Qatar Equestrian Federation in organising year-round dressage competitions has encouraged many young riders in the country. 
“We seek to make the equestrian league one of the best in the Arab world. We would like to see more Qatari riders and parents are encouraged to enrol their children at Al Ittihad or Al Shaqab for competitive horse riding training,” added al-Mannai.
