Represented by the Environmental Operations Department of the Environmental Affairs Sector, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) participated in a meeting on communication effectiveness and transparency training, as well as improving information dissemination and the using of access tools, in co-operation with the Incident and Emergency Centre at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The meeting, which was held via videoconferencing, discussed the work plan of the Operations Manual for IAEA Assessment and Prognosis during a Nuclear or Radiological Emergency, in addition to the IAEA’s safety standards and related topics, as well as analysing available information and predicating possible scenarios based on evidence, scientific knowledge and the capabilities of the member states.
The IAEA specialises in establishing or adopting safety standards to protect health and reduce the level of danger to life and property, and applying these standards, in addition to procedures that cover various aspects of emergency response.
