The Qatar Motor & Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) has unveiled a new logo for the 2021 Qatar Off-Road Championship which draws inspiration from Qatari deserts and reflects the local characteristics.
“The new logo for the Off-Road Championship has been designed by Ghadeer al-Khayat, who has joined us from UK. The design is very creative and highlights our culture and environment,” QMMF Executive Director Amro al-Hamad said.
The six-leg the 2021 Qatar Off-Road Championship series will flag off next month and consist of six rounds.
The first round will be held on Feb 5 and 6 with the second set to take place on Mar 19-20. The third round will be staged on Oct 8 and 9 with the fourth being held on Oct 15 and 16.
The penultimate round will be held on Nov 12 and 13 while the season finale will be staged on Dec 3 and 4. The final round will be held in December. The final round will be held over two days.
“As we announced earlier, the first three rounds will be Enduro (endurance) and the remaining three, the Baja category. The sixth and final round will offer double points to the participants who will be seen in action over two days,” informed al-Hamad, adding that will extend over two days.
After the conclusion of the first round of the 2021 Qatar National Sprint, al-Hamad revealed QMMF has made changes to this year’s series by introducing two new categories - the women’s class and allowing electric cars to feature in the hugely popular competition.
Al-Hamad said the QMMF has also decided to spread the championship to more than four months - from December to April - as it was staged in the previous years.
“We have been able to plan things better now. The championship will run throughout the year except for the summer months. So we have divided the season into two parts which now allows us to have more activities during each round and the extended series gives more time for participants to prepare for each competition,” he explained.
“In the past, when a competitor saw his car breaking down, he could not catch up and take part in the following rounds. But the situation is different now in light of the presence of sufficient time to deal with any breakdowns during competition. Our goal in the end is to help the participants to feature in the entire series with relative ease,” added al-Hamad.
