HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry Ali bin Ahmed al-Kuwari has said the ministry “co-operated with various government agencies and the private sector to implement the directives of the wise leadership to adopt the necessary preventive and health measures, as well as economic provisions.”
The directives, he said “contributed to ensuring business continuity and restoring economic growth in a record period.”
Addressing the annual ceremony of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry held virtually under the theme ‘2020’s Harvest’, al-Kuwari stressed the importance of the event in shedding light on the ministry's achievements and its future projects, and honoring the team comprising highly experienced and skilled leaders and personnel.
He praised their “extraordinary” efforts during the past year that contributed to consolidating the Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s achievements and successes, despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
In this regard, al-Kuwari referred to the unique model the Ministry of Commerce and Industry adopted in dealing with repercussions of the pandemic.
The ministry adopted a flexible strategy that prioritised the health and safety of all its leaders and employees.
Moreover, the ministry cooperated with various government agencies and the private sector to implement the directives of the wise leadership to adopt the necessary preventive and health measures, as well as economic provisions.
Concluding his speech, al-Kuwari “thanked the ministry’s distinguished leaders and employees who demonstrated determination during unprecedented circumstances, highlighting their keenness to continue to perform their duties at the ministry's headquarters efficiently.”
He also thanked the senior leaders and managers for the support extended to employees and for upholding the values of a united team to achieve the Ministry’s strategic goals.
The annual ceremony featured a presentation of the most prominent achievements made by the ministry’s various sectors and administrative units in 2020, and a preview of the characteristics of its strategic orientation in 2021.
In honouring distinguished leadership and employees during the annual ceremony, the ministry said it aims to further motivate employees across all administrative units to further support in achieving its objectives.
The ceremony was attended by HE Sultan bin Rashid al-Khater, undersecretary at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, HE Sheikh Jassim bin Jabor al- Thani, assistant undersecretary (Consumer Affairs), HE Saleh Majid al-Khulaifi, assistant undersecretary (Commerce Affairs), and HE Mohamed Hassan al-Malki, assistant undersecretary (Industry Affairs), as well as personnel including department managers, heads of divisions, and employees.
The annual ceremony aims to support bonds of cooperation and harmony between senior leaders and the Ministry’s employees, enhance the values of loyalty and belonging in the workplace among employees, as well as highlight the distinguished achievements of the Ministry’s various administrative units.
