Visit Qatar, the official social media tourism account of the Qatar National Tourism Council, continues to promote a number of local destinations for residents to explore, especially during this pleasant weather. The account’s Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter pages feature historical and cultural sites, as well as various locations that provide a diverse range of offerings and experiences, with all the health and safety measures in place.
“With over 500 acres of lush greenery at the heart of Qatar, Al Bidda park offers open green spaces for nature lovers to indulge in, including dedicated running, cycling tracks and a multitude of entertainment and sports offerings for the entire family,” Visit Qatar said. Previously called the Al Rumailah park, the Al Bidda park, renovated in 2014 and reopened to the public in February 2018, has become one of the most visited public parks in Doha and it is also popular for its pet-friendly zone.
Another featured place is Souq Waqif, which hosts an array of shops that sell traditional items and souvenirs, among others, and a variety of local and international restaurants and cafes. “Souq Waqif has over 250 years of history as the melting pot of Qatar’s culture, heritage and traditions. Expect to be transported to a different era and experience historic beginnings of Qatar where falconry, horse riding and artistry are celebrated,” Visit Qatar said.
Visit Qatar also posted pictures of iconic artworks by internationally-renowned American artists to promote the Qatar–US Year of Culture, a initiative of Qatar Museums. These include Kaws’ (Brian Donnelly) ‘Small Lie’ at Hamad International Airport and his moving art installation ‘Holiday’ at the Doha Corniche (in 2019); and Richard Serra’s ‘7’ sculpture at the Museum of Islamic Art  and his East-West/West-East in Zekreet.
“With several American masterpieces already gracing Qatar’s iconic landmarks and across the public domain, we look forward to starting the New Year with a stream of cultural interactions celebrating the Qatar-USA year of culture,” it added.
Since last year, Visit Qatar has been featuring local and international cuisines offered by several restaurants in the country, describing it as “home to the world’s best gastronomy experiences influenced from all around the globe.”
Qatar is showcasing its best chefs who prepare authentic meals – from breakfast and lunch to dinner – for guests to enjoy.
Visit Qatar also uploaded pictures and videos of many other destinations and attractions, including The Pearl-Qatar’s Qanat Quartier, which take visitors into a boat ride through its canals and unique archbridges.
