The US Department of State welcomed the decision to open the airspace and the land and sea borders between Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

"A resolution of the wider three-year dispute between the Quartet and Qatar is in the interest of all Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) members as well as in the interest of the United States," said a State Department spokesperson in a statement to Al-Hurra TV channel.

Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nasser al-Mohamed al-Sabah announced on Monday that an agreement had been reached according to which the airspace and land and sea borders would be opened between Saudi Arabia and Qatar, starting from Monday night.
