Mohamed Nasser al-Hajri has been appointed as a member of the board of directors and general manager of Qatar Electricity and Water Company (QEWC) announced Sunday.
This was based on the decision of the board of directors of QEWC, it noted.
HE the Minister of State for Energy Affairs Saad bin Sherida al-Kaabi, and chairman of the board of directors of QEWC, welcomed al-Hajri, wishing him success in performing his duties.
Al-Hajri holds a master's degree in gas engineering from the University of Salford in the UK, and a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Qatar University.
He joined Qatar Petroleum in 1991.
Al-Hajri has more than 28 years of experience with the broad energy sector, and has held many positions, including that of executive vice president (Petrochemical and Industrial Projects Development) in QP, vice chairman of the board of directors of Industries Qatar, and managing director of Qatar Steel.
He has participated in the development of a number of electricity and water projects and chaired the board of directors of Ras Girtas Power Company.
QEWC is a Qatari public shareholding company established in 1990 in accordance with the provisions of the Qatar Commercial Companies Law for the purpose of owning and managing power generation and water desalination plants and selling its products.
It is one of the first private sector companies in the region that operate in the field of electricity production and water desalination.
