Hundreds of people in the priority group, received Covid-19 vaccination in the country yesterday as Qatar has completed a week of vaccination.
The ongoing first phase, which continues until January 31, is for categories including those aged above 70 and people with chronic diseases as well as the healthcare workers.
Musallam al-Nabit, assistant managing director, Primary Health Care Corporation, was among those who received the Covid-19 vaccine yesterday.
“We would like to thank the government of Qatar for taking this as a priority and for bringing the vaccination to Qatar so quickly,” said al-Nabit.
The official thanked the Ministry of Public Health for its efforts during the pandemic and valued its achievement of bringing the Covid-19 vaccine to Qatar.
“As we continue to support the efforts to curb Covid-19, we have an important part to play by delivering and ensuring its availability in seven designated health centres. I feel proud to get Covid-19 vaccine that is safe and has passed all the regulatory approvals,” he added.
First batch of Lekhwiya officials received the vaccination yesterday. Hamad Medical Corporation also commenced vaccination for the first group of long-term care patients from Daam Specialised Care Center as part of the national programme to protect the most vulnerable members of the population.
Meanwhile, Dr Mohan Thomas, a prominent physician received the vaccination and exhorted everyone to make use of the facility.
“Vaccine is the best way to prevent Covid-19 and the government of Qatar has taken huge efforts to make the vaccine available in the country so quick. I would suggest everyone to take the vaccine to protect themselves as well as the community,” said Dr Thomas after receiving the vaccine.
