A virtual forum on “New Technologies and Digital Transformation” was organised by the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) yesterday in co-operation with the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA).
The participants, according to a tweet by the MoTC, stressed the importance of digital media platforms and tools in raising awareness and introducing the public to the opportunities available for owners of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to support digital transformation.
The forum discussed digital transformation’s concepts, challenges, socio-economic impact and best regional and global practices on developing relevant plans and policies with an overview of global and regional indicators measuring national progress in digital transformation.
The forum was also aimed at informing the participants about the potential socio-economic impact of digital transformation while highlighting the role of new technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), in accelerating digital transformation describing best regional and international practices in developing related plans.
In the forum, distinguished AI use cases in Qatar were presented by the MoTC, pointing out the new applications and initiatives developed by the ESCWA and its new Centre of Entrepreneurship (CoE) to digitise SMEs in the Arab region.
