Qatar and India are in the process of setting up task forces on investment and energy, the Indian embassy said in a statement issued Monday at the conclusion of a two-day stand-alone visit by External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr S Jaishankar.
During the visit, the Indian EAM called on His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani and held detailed discussions with HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani.

Dr Jaishankar handed over a personal message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to His Highness the Amir inviting him to visit India and thanking Qatar for taking care of the Indian community during Covid-19.
HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister and the Indian EAM discussed strengthening bilateral economic and security co-operation.
Dr Jaishankar held detailed discussions with HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs on bilateral as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest. Both Ministers discussed ways to strengthen the multifaceted bilateral relationship in areas such as energy, trade, investment, food processing, healthcare, education, culture, defence and security.
They agreed to maintain regular consultations and co-ordination on all issues of mutual interest at multilateral fora. The Indian EAM invited HE Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani to visit India for the first Joint Commission Meeting in 2021.
Dr Jaishankar interacted with the business leaders from Qatar, including the chairmen and board members of the Qatar Chamber, and the Qatar Businessmen Association. He appreciated their commitment for business partnerships with India and briefed them about new opportunities flowing from Atmanirbhar Bharat.
The EAM held a virtual interaction with the Indian community in Qatar. He appreciated the contribution of the community in meeting the Covid-19 challenge. Dr Jaishankar visited the Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium (one of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 venues), that has been constructed by Indian company L&T along with Qatari partners Al Balagh group. He also visited the National Museum of Qatar.
