The ladies football event of the QOC Beach Games kicked off at the Aspire Park on Wednesday with two matches played in Group C.
In the first match, the Seashore Ladies beat the Qatar team 2-1 while the 22 Youth Initiative were simply in a world of their own as they took their Team A7 opponents to the cleaners, scoring an unbelievable 13 goals with no reply from the opposing side, in the second match of the day.
Such was the gulf in the class between the two sides that play was pegged to the A7 half of the pitch, with the team barely touching the ball, for a long period in the game.
Meanwhile, Al Maha and Al Amal secured their quarter-finals tickets of the ladies beach volleyball event after posting straight-set wins against Qatar Academy and Al Mahaba respectively.
With the conclusion of the ladies beach volleyball event’s group stages, attention has now shifted to the men’s section later yesterday. The first match was scheduled to be the Group B encounter between Lusail and Al Jazeera while the second match was between Al Adaam and Zekreet in Group A.
Over 500 male and female athletes are participating in the first edition of the QOC Beach Games, which will be held over two weeks until January 2, 2021.
