Around 200 companies, including international firms from Kuwait, India, Oman, Turkey and Pakistan, would participate in the ‘Build Your House 2021’ exhibition slated on March 22 to 24 at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC).

The number of participating companies “reflects the great international confidence in the Qatari market,” and enhances visitors’ options through the best products and technologies in the fields of construction, architectural design, decoration, and contracting, in addition to the technologies of smart and green buildings, said Rawad Sleem, general manager of NeXTFairs, which is organising the event.

“This edition is marked by the diversity of the participating institutions, including the public and private sectors, as well as international companies, as the exhibition targets Qatari citizens, who are looking for building their own houses and to help them to obtain ideas and information about building their new houses or renovating their existing ones.

“The exhibition has also become an important platform that connects visitors with contractors and consultants; to enable them to determine their options and make decisions related to the construction process,” Sleem said.

Sleem said the exhibition aims to shed light on the latest trends in the construction industry, especially through the use of modern sustainable building materials, which will increase the growth of the smart building market, and significantly contribute to rationalising the consumption of energy.

‘BYH 2021’ also seeks to upgrade sustainable and eco-friendly real estate market by providing the best solutions through the most prominent companies in the construction sector all under one umbrella to serve the visitors, he said.

Sleem stressed that the exhibition will apply all precautionary measures to protect against Covid-19 to preserve the safety and health of companies, participating entities and visitors and to ensure the best safe experience.

He said, “There is a set of indicators regarding the improvement of the operational environment of the national economy during 2021, which has been reinforced by the announcement of Covid-19 vaccine distribution that will positively affect the global and local economy, not to mention that 2021 budget reveals that the momentum of government capital expenditure on major development projects and 2022 World Cup projects will continue, which will enhance the promising growth prospects for Qatar’s economy over the next year.”

Citing data published by the Ministry of Finance, Sleem said 5,045 plots in new citizens' subdivisions were delivered with integrated infrastructure, including roads, sewage networks, traffic management, surface and underground water drainage networks, lighting poles, communication networks, and water and electricity networks by Kahramaa within 2020.

He said the 2021 budget puts the development of citizens’ lands at the top of its priorities through two phases at a total cost of “QR37bn.” The cost of the first phase is “QR16.5bn,” which includes a total of 11,989 plots in 13 areas, while the second phase will cost “QR20.5bn” that includes 21,424 plots distributed over 19 areas, in addition to projects in fields, such as health and education.
