HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah has said that the Qatar National Day is an opportunity to commemorate the journey of the ancestors, led by the founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed bin Thani, and their efforts to ensure the unity and independence of the country.
HE the Deputy Prime Minister told the Qatar News Agency (QNA) in a statement that the Qatar National Day is a day to reflect on the values cherished by the ancestors and that were upheld since then, one generation after the other.
HE al-Attiyah offered his congratulations to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, the Qatari people, and all residents of Qatar.
He noted that the values the Qatari people inherited from their ancestors have become the cornerstone of the Qatari national identity.
Speaking of the challenges faced by the nation, HE the Deputy Prime Minister said that they are mainly developmental, especially during the reigns of His Highness the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.
He noted that Qatar aspires to more achievements.
HE al-Attiyah highlighted that the state focused on human capital development, evident in its investment in health and education.
He also noted that the state is now incentivising citizens to create wealth by encouraging individual initiatives and nurturing an environment that encourages competition.

On the Ministry of Defence's main achievements of the year in the implementation of the National Development Strategy 2018-2022, HE al-Attiyah said that the ministry is glad to announce that it is fully ready to provide all the support and the protection to the FIFA World Cup 2022, noting that the ministry has completed all technical and logistical preparations required to ensure that the event will run smoothly.
HE the Deputy Prime Minister added that the ministry is working on implementing the directives of His Highness the Amir to ensure that guests and visitors leave the event with unforgettable memories.
On achievements in the defence field, HE al-Attiyah said that the ministry is moving forward with implementing His Highness the Amir's plans of expanding the infrastructure, improving the weaponry capabilities of different units, and developing command and control systems.
