Secretary-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) Audrey Azoulay praised the efforts of Qatar and its continued support for the Unesco programmes in the fields of education, science, culture, combating extremism and other areas. This came during her meeting with HE Ali Zainal Mousa al-Zainal on the occasion of the end of his tenure as Qatar's Permenant Representative to the Unesco.
The Unesco Secretary-General commended the efforts exerted by al-Zainal over 20 years to achieve the goals of Unesco through his work as the permanent representative of Qatar to the organisation, and his efforts in deepening the bonds of cooperation between Qatar and Unesco, wishing him more progress and success. For his part, Ali al-Zainal thanked the Unesco official for her efforts in implementing the programmes and projects of the organisation, especially in light of the difficult circumstances the world is witnessing due to the coronavirus pandemic, stressing that Qatar will continue to support the organisation and its projects that aim to promote the values of peace and love around the world.
At the end of the meeting, Azoulay presented al-Zainal with a copy of the document of accession of Qatar to the Unesco signed on January 22, 1972, in appreciation of his efforts throughout the years as the permanent representative of Qatar to Unesco.
