HE Maj Gen Abdul Aziz bin Faisal al-Thani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior and Commander of the Lekhwiya Force, affirmed that Qatar National Day, which fall on Dec 18, is an occasion to embody all meanings of unity and solidarity, draw inspiration from the values of giving, loyalty and belonging to this generous nation, and follow the path of the Founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed bin Thani.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), he said that the celebration of this day has great connotations and meanings firmly in the minds of every citizen and resident on this land, and these signs are evident of the unity and sincere brotherhood among the people of the same nation, as represented and established by the Founder.
HE Maj Gen Abdul Aziz bin Faisal al-Thani stressed that celebrating this occasion constitutes an incentive to inspire the values of connection with the homeland, and a motive to deepen feelings of loyalty and hard work for the sake of the pride, advancement and development of Qatar. Regarding the achievements of the Lekhwiya Force during the current year, the commander referred to many achievements at the local and foreign levels. He said the force with its experience and competence has greatly contributed to controlling security throughout the country, as it is the protective security shield for Qatar because it has trained and equipped with the latest technologies to face various security challenges as well as securing local, regional and international events organised by the state, such as conferences, sports festivals and tournaments, in addition to its contribution to search and rescue work in a number of countries hit by disasters.
On the role of Lekhwiya Force during Covid-19 crisis, he pointed out that the force stood in the front lines to confront the crisis, as it carried out many tasks to contain the pandemic, including playing the role of support with Al Fazaa patrols, traffic and other security departments.
The commander explained that Lekhwiya participated in closing the industrial zone to prevent the spread of the pandemic, cordoning off 4,000 people and 2,000 vehicles, in addition to deploying patrols in various places in the country for the purpose of educating the public not to leave the house except for the most urgent necessity, as well as educating them about the need to take the necessary precautions to preserve their safety.
HE Maj Gen Abdul Aziz bin Faisal al-Thani noted the achievements of Qatar at various levels, despite the challenges, saying that Qatar has strengthened its global presence and overcame all difficulties and challenges, despite the unjust blockade, and took firm positions and adopted successful policy in all international forums and on at various levels. — QNA
