All roads leading to Al Rayyan stadium, the venue of the Amir Cup 2020 final Friday on the occasion of the Qatar National Day, are ready, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) announced Wednesday.
Ashghal has been co-ordinating and co-operating with all governmental entities concerned in this regard, according to a statement. There is a network of highways facilitating free traffic flow in order to ensure access to Al Rayyan stadium.
Local roads are also improved for fast and direct access to key locations such as Al Riffa Metro Station, Mall of Qatar, Al Riffa Celebration Hall Complex and Al Rayyan Sports Club. The infrastructure of the area is well prepared with a drainage network, stormwater and surface water drainage network.
Al Majd Road connects directly to the stadium through Jerry Al Dhabi Interchange and Al Jahhaniya Interchange connecting with Dukhan Road.
Dukhan Road is one f the main highways directly connecting with the stadium and links between Doha and Al Sheehaniya. The road assumes importance as it’s connected with Khalifa Avenue, Al Riffa Street and Al Majd Road facilitating traffic movement between Doha, Al Shamal Road and western areas in Dukhan.
Ashghal recently completed development of local roads leading to Al Rayyan stadium. The works included developing the roads leading to the stadium with a total length of about 5km with two lanes in each direction.
The project includes pedestrian paths with a length of 10km and a width of 10m along with cycle paths with a length of 513m and running paths with a length of 513m.
Ashghal has developed 5 km long Al Terhab Street within the works of Roads and Infrastructure Development Project in Bani Hajer, Package 1. This street is directly connected to Al Riffa Street to facilitate access to the stadium for those coming from Dukhan Road and Al Majd Road.
Ashghal has provided dedicated parking slots for "Park and Ride" cars that connect Al Riffa Station with Al Rayyan Venue. Entrances and exits also provided direct connections with main roads leading to Al Rayyan Venue and the parking lots for public transport.
Ashghal constructed a deep trunk sewer extending from Al Rayyan stadium to Al Shamal Road to collect and discharge foul flows to Pumping Station 70 at Al-Ebb and Leabaib. The sewage will be pumped into the treatment plant in Umm Salal municipality.
The Roads Operation and Maintenance team of Asset Affairs at Ashghal works for the traffic management on the roads around Al Rayyan Stadium and it's main entrances and exits ensuring the roads are free from obstacles.
