Bilateral trade between Qatar and Austria stood at $210mn in 2019; the value reached $138mn at the end of the third quarter of 2020, according to figures released by Qatar Chamber yesterday.
Qatar Chamber chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani, who participated in the General Assembly Meeting of the 29th session and 30th board meeting of the Arab-Austro Chamber of Commerce (AACC), underscored the importance of underpinning the economic co-operation between both sides.
The virtual meeting discussed a report on the economic and commercial co-operation between Arab countries and Austria, in addition to other topics identified in the agendas of meetings.
Sheikh Khalifa also underscored the strong relations between the State of Qatar and Austria, and underlined the interest of both countries to promote their investment and trade co-operation, as well as strengthen co-operation prospects between business sectors for the good of both countries’ economies.
Qatar and Austria enjoy close and multi-faceted relations, Sheikh Khalifa noted, adding that the private sectors in both countries are keen to support these relations. “There are 33 Austrian companies operating in Qatar with Qatari partners and three companies with full Austrian capital,” he said.
According to Sheikh Khalifa, the AACC plays a vital role in the economic co-operation between both sides, and described it as “a bridge” between Arab states and Austria.
Founded in 1989, the AACC aims to strengthen the economic and commercial ties between Austria and the Arab countries, as well as enhance communication in science, art and technology.
