Ambassador of Oman to Qatar Najib bin Yahya al-Balushi said that Qatar and Oman enjoy historical, rooted and solid relations, in addition to the social and kinship ties. Owing to the wise leadership of HM Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, and his brother His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, these relations are proceeding at a balanced pace towards wider horizons and opportunities, he stressed.
The envoy said that the solid ground that established this relationship, the size of the achievements made, and the level of awaited ambitions make the field open for more co-operation in various fields that achieve more coherence. In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the Omani ambassador said that the common interests and the pursuit of prosperity for the two peoples and spreading the culture of peace and stability are a fundamental goal of the two brotherly countries, noting that the exchange of visits of the delegations of the two countries continues and work is proceeding according to the drawn plans.
Strenuous efforts are being made to continue forming commercial partnerships and making investments in the two countries which leaderships are greatly eager to diversify sources of national income, he said, adding that numerous agreements and memoranda of understanding have been signed in the economic, commercial, cultural and other fields in order to consolidate the existing cooperation and to serve the two brotherly countries and peoples.
The envoy lauded the positive transformations taking place in the country, and the remarkable prosperity in all aspects, stressing that the process of construction and development continues at steady steps drawn by the Qatari government, and the multiple achievements testify to the continuous tireless work exerted by all the spectrum of the Qatari people. Infrastructure projects throughout the country are visible to everyone, he said, referring to the multiple factories, roads, mega bridges, subways, development projects and economic successes.
The ambassador also pointed out that Qatar, thanks to the wisdom of its leadership, is moving towards a knowledge economy with its diversification of investments in infrastructure, its economic diversification, the development of its human resources, its preservation of the environment, the expansion of its green areas, and its endeavour to direct its natural resources in the best way.
He said: “We are very proud of the acceleration of the steps in the completion of infrastructure projects related to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and what Qatar has taken to follow the highest international standards of quality and safety in the eight stadiums. Qatar has succeeded in perfectly placing its imprint on the stadium models to simulate its cultural and historical heritage in dazzling masterpieces to add to the glamour and beauty of the landmarks of the sisterly State of Qatar.”
“The sisterly State of Qatar undertakes a prominent regional and international role as an active partner in the international community, and has achieved great successes by using its diplomatic efforts to bring stability and peace in Darfur, Afghanistan and elsewhere. The State of Qatar has also won the world’s confidence in organising and hosting the most important international conferences and forums, and has demonstrated exemplary ability and competence in this field,” he added. Ambassador al-Balushi stressed that Qatar’s successful management of the Covid-19 pandemic reflected positively on its impact, saying : “Qatar has paid great attention to all the sectors in the country and exhibited its readiness to face any challenges.
“The health sector had a prominent role in addressing this scourge, where the efficiency of the health system, medical and human staff, and the adherence to the appropriate treatment protocols made the state, with the cooperation between all its agencies, capable of confronting the serious challenges caused by the pandemic.
“The studied plans that were put in place, the proactive measures that were taken, and the prompt response had a great impact in reducing the spread of the virus, treating patients and reducing the death rate to a minimum. The State of Qatar had a large and effective role with regard to assistance to overcome this crisis that swept the world by providing humanitarian aid to a number of countries and international organizations, which again gained deserved international praise for Qatar’s humanitarian work and international cooperation within the framework of the global efforts exerted to combat this pandemic.”
Concluding his remarks, the Omani ambassador extended congratulations on the occasion of the National Day to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, His Highness the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, His Highness the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani and the brotherly Qatari people, asking God Almighty to perpetuate such happy occasions for them and more progress and prosperity for the sisterly State of Qatar under its wise leadership.
