AAB has launched the new Lexus IS 2021, which ‘strikes a perfect balance between sportiness and sophistication’ at an event in Education City Golf Club. AAB acting CEO R K Murugan, senior marketing manager Firas Mufti, senior manager (Lexus National Sales) Ahmed Abusaad, Lexus brand ambassador Amal Ameen and other officials were among those present.
Following the reveal, the guests participated in a Golf clinic, organised by the Education City Golf Club coaches, according to a statement.
The latest version of the popular vehicle remains true to its foundation as a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sports sedan, while expanding on the qualities that have built its loyal following, it was explained.
As chief engineer Naoki Kobayashi said, Lexus retained the well-received compact body, and set out to deliver exceptional ride comfort while offering a high level of control.
“We are excited to launch the new Lexus IS in the region, a vehicle that combines luxury and performance in perfect harmony,” commented Kei Fujita, chief representative, Middle East and Central Asia Representative Office, Toyota Motor Corporation.
The 2021 Lexus IS has enhanced body rigidity and improves ride comfort and contributes to dynamic driving performance through enhanced steering response. Coil springs are 20% lighter than the outgoing model and the new forged aluminium A-arms weigh 18% less. The suspension stabiliser bar has also been optimized using a new material to provide a 17% weight reduction.
The cabin highlights include a new 10.3-inch touchscreen multimedia system featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a 4.2-inch color multi-information display, and a dual-zone automatic climate control system with touch-sensitive controls. The vehicle also offers SmartAccess with push-button start, a 17-speaker Mark Levinson sound system, a power moonroof, 8-way adjustable power and ventilated front seats, as well as ample luggage space thanks to the 60:40 split-folding rear seats.
The new Lexus IS offers two engine options; an updated 2.0-liter, turbocharged and intercooled inline four-cylinder engine delivering 241hp and 350 Nm of torque, and a sophisticated 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 311hp and 380 Nm of torque. The two engines are paired with an eight-speed sport direct-shift automatic transmission.
The new IS has the Lexus Safety System+, an advanced safety technology package that includes a pre-collision system. The vehicle comes in seven distinctive exterior colours, including the newly developed Sonic Chrome and Sonic Iridium options. The interior comes in three elegant colours; Ocher, Dark Rose, and the universal Black. The new wheel designs are available in 18-inch and 19-inch sizes.
