Qatar Charity (QC) distributed winter essentials to workers at the recently-concluded Katara 10th Traditional Dhow Festival, as part of its continued “Warmth and Peace” campaign.
The bags contained warm clothes and jackets.
Jassim Mohamed al-Emadi, the director of the Programmes and Community Development Department, said that the QC pays close attention to the conditions faced by low-income persons.
The QC organises several cultural, health, and sports activities for low-income people and workers, and seeks to meet their essential winter needs.
Al-Emadi said that the QC is keen to serve all the sections of society, including workers, and this project is a gesture of social solidarity with them and as a form of appreciation, as the workers operate in very cold weather during winter, especially in the early morning and late night.
Jihad al-Jaida, a member of the organising committee of the Katara 10th Traditional Dhow Festival, thanked the QC for this initiative.
Medical examinations and health awareness sessions are to be organised for the workers, who will also receive health supplies and medical guidance on winter diseases and how to prevent them.
They will also be educated on the importance of drinking water in winter, in addition to how to prevent coronavirus infection.
