Qatar Charity (QC) and the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) have signed a grant agreement to support urgent relief in northern Syria as part of the “Quest Health” initiative.
Under the agreement, the two parties announced the allocation of $6,966,148.
Through the QFFD’s Quest initiative, Qatar Charity will implement a number of health projects.
The pact includes the implementation of specialised health projects in the governorates of Idlib and Aleppo, and improving access to life-saving primary health services by operating six primary healthcare centres in northern Syria.
It will operate central warehouses for medical supplies and a Qatar clinics complex in Afrin, in addition to an ambulance and referral system in northwestern Syria.
Currently, a project is underway to strengthen specialised health services in both Idlib and Aleppo, where the hospitals under the project are equipped.
Under this project, three hospitals will receive support to offer continued healthcare services to the local population, and 12 months of operating costs will be covered.
Outpatient clinics and health centres will receive a set of medical equipment.
In addition, obstetric and newborn care services will be offered at the women’s and children’s hospital, which provides maternal and child healthcare services.
About 201,600 people are expected to benefit from the healthcare services and medical consultations provided under the project aimed at improving access to life-saving primary health services through six primary healthcare centres and training health personnel in northern Syria.
Some 10 ambulances have been purchased, equipped, and sent to Syria.
The ambulances have been operational since early this month under the ambulance and referral system project.
The agreement covers 12 months of operating costs for the 10 ambulances, crew and employees to provide emergency patient transport services.
These ambulances are operational over all regions of northern Syria according to the need and geographical areas.
The necessary support will be extended through the Qatar Clinics Complex project to provide healthcare services in Afrin.
