Vietnam ambassador to Qatar Nguyen Dinh Thao has hailed the significant development in relations between his country and Qatar in various fields, with a sincere desire to enhance co-operation between the two countries at all levels.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) ahead of the National Day, the Vietnamese ambassador said that in the past years, though Qatar has faced many difficulties under the blockade, Vietnam-Qatar relations have continued to developed in various fields.
In 2018, Vietnam and Qatar celebrated the 25th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries with so many significant activities, he added.
The ambassador pointed out that the year 2019 witnessed the visits of many Vietnamese officials to Doha, to attend international conferences or as part of mutual visits.
On the occasion of Qatar's National Day, the ambassador extended wholehearted congratulations to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, His Highness the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, the government and the Qatari people.
Vietnam and Qatar has maintained fruitful co-operation, especially in the field of commerce, he said, adding that a lot of Vietnamese products are on sale in the Qatar market.
He also hailed the role played by the relevant bodies during the Covid-19 outbreak to organise the flight to repatriate hundreds of Vietnamese citizens to their country.
He expressed the belief that the relations between Vietnam and Qatar will be more developed and strengthened in the coming years."I am absolutely confident that under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, Qatar will overcome every difficulty and challenge, record further progress and development, and successfully accomplish Qatar National Vision 2030."
The Vietnamese ambassador noted that Qatar's rapid development and increasingly important role in the region and the world as well, adding the fact that Qatar is going to host World Cup in 2022, one of the greatest sporting events of the planet for the first time in the region. He said it reveals about Qatar's role and prestige on the regional and international arena.
He said that Qatar is making every effort to prepare for the 2022 World Cup with so many giant projects being completed, adding that the event will be a great success and will further enhance Qatar's image in the world.
Moreover, he praised the rapid and successful response of Qatar in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic through the co-operation of all concerned bodies in the country and the co-operation and solidarity of citizens, as Qatar was managed to strengthen the capacity of the health sector, taken all necessary measures in the urgent and long term to counter the effects of the pandemic, given priority to ensure the health of all residents, including foreign labourers.
As a result, Qatar has successfully contained the pandemic to protect the lives of its people including hundreds of thousands of expatriates, he added.
At the international level, Qatar has actively shared responsibility and co-operation with other countries to face global crises, through operating urgent air bridges to transport medical aid from Qatar to many countries in need and to ensure that the people stuck in the affected areas and the United Nations personnel are returned to their countries, the ambassador said.
Ambassador Nguyen Dinh Thao said that in the context of limited flights globally, the Qatar is still facilitating the continuation of the operation of Qatar Airways to support humanitarian cases, stressing that what Qatar has done during the pandemic really impresses the world.
