Central Municipal Council (CMC) Chairman HE Mohamed bin Hamoud Shafi al-Shafi has stressed that the National Day is a source of pride as it presents an opportunity to reflect on the country’s achievements under the wise leadership’s directives.
Al-Shafi congratulated His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, His Highness the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, His Highness the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani, the wise government, and the Qatari people on the advent of Qatar National Day.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the occasion of the National Day, he said that Dec 18 will remain an important date for the Qatari people as they reflect on the country’s past since it was founded by Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed bin Thani.
He said that the Qatari citizen is the main focus of developmental efforts since the founding of the State, as the citizens remain the main pillar of the State.
As a result, the country’s wise leadership focused on education by ensuring the establishment of schools, universities, and different educational institutions, he added.
He pointed out that the country continued with achievements in the field of healthcare, as well as in terms of helping poor families, infrastructure projects, and energy projects, until Qatar occupies an advanced position among the countries of the world.
Al-Shafi said that Qatar National Day is an opportunity to seek inspiration from the thoughts of the founder of the state, adding that this acts as a driver for the CMC in its bid to co-operate with governmental and non-governmental bodies to implement the national development strategies.
He noted that the completion rates of projects in all areas has reached unprecedented levels, in line with the vision of the wise leadership and the plans of the government.
He added that the Central Municipal Council, whose members were elected to the sixth session, reflects the democracy enjoyed by Qatar, and that the distinguished participation of male and female voters and candidates in this democratic event translates the sound approach taken by the wise leadership, in order to expand participation in decision-making, consolidating the democratic experiment to serve the nation and the citizen, and contribute to its development and elevation.
Al-Shafi said that the Central Municipal Council with all its members works in light of the terms of reference set forth in the law, to present all the proposals and demands of the people, discuss them and issue appropriate recommendations regarding them and raise them to the concerned authorities, and work on the development and renaissance of all regions in co-operation with the concerned authorities, as a large number of recommendations were issued during the current year, and these efforts found all the co-operation, support and welcome from the concerned authorities.
The CMC chairman affirmed Qatar’s success in addressing the Covid-19 pandemic, thanks to the directives from the wise leadership, and the successful plans of the rational government, noting that the Central Municipal Council works to follow up all developments and continuous co-ordination with the ministries and institutions to ensure that the council’s role continues in a normal manner.
He also highlighted the leadership’s success in overcoming difficulties, uniting the country, advancing the rule of law, and overcoming the blockade.
He said that this occasion is an opportunity to recall the march of dedication and giving, and is a motivation to do our utmost in the process of building the future of Qatar.
