A new denomination of QR200 will join the new currency stream as Qatar Central Bank Sunday unveiled the fifth series of currency notes through which up to QR20bn worth new notes will be put into circulation by end of January 2021.













The new notes will come into the market in phase, beginning from December 18 and importantly, the QR500 note will have "Nexus" security thread, a "unique" feature being introduced first time in the world.
The new currencies will have more than 55 security features, making it impossible to counterfeit, according to Mohamed Jassim al-Kuwari, executive director of Public Debt, Banking and Sector and Currency Issue Sector, QCB.
