Chaliyar Doha recently organised an online painting and drawing competition to mark Children’s Day. More than 500 students from Indian schools in Qatar took part in the competition. 
The event was held to raise environmental awareness among children and to nurture their talents.
Zubi Suresh, South Indian cine artiste and presenter of popular reality show, Kuttikuppayam, inaugurated the contest. The theme of the drawing competition was ‘Green Qatar for Future Generation.’ Anika Surendran, famous child actress, spoke on the occasion about the World Children’s Day.
According to the panel of judges, Nuha Binth Niyas from Birla Public School won the first prize. Anjal Shadi Kuttiyil from Ideal Indian School claimed the second and Nitza Azeela Navaz from Birla Public School, the third prize.
The first prize of QR1,001 was handed over to the winner by Hyder, MD of Copacabana Seafood Grill restaurant. The second prize of QR501 was given by Anees, RAG manager. The third prize of QR251 was given by Salim, Mates Qatar team manager. Certificates of appreciation were distributed by Noufal Kattayat, Ragam Library MD. 
Earlier, Chaliyar Doha officials gave away complimentary prizes to the top 20 finishers.
Jibin, RJ at Radio Malayalam 98.6 FM, was the anchor of the competition. Mohamed Layis Kuniyil, programme committee chairman; Siddique Cheruvadi, convener; Sabik Edavanna, technical head; Abdul Latif Farooq, Chaliyar Doha president; Zameel Abdul Wahid, general secretary; Keshav Das, treasurer; V C Masood, chief adviser; Basith Khan, Basheer Nanmanda, Raghunath Farooq, Ajmal Areekode, Mani Konnalath and Mushtaq, spoke on the occasion.
