HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry Ali bin Ahmed al-Kuwari met on Thursday with Lord Mayor of the City of London William Russell and his accompanying delegation, who are currently visiting the country. The meeting dealt with ways to enhance bilateral co-operation in the fields of joint interest, particularly commerce, economy, and investment. Qatar and the UK enjoy strong trade ties, with trade volume reaching $2.47bn in the first nine months of this year. Last year saw the two countries exchange goods and services worth $3.85bn. The total number of UK companies operating in Qatar reached 1134, with 993 joint ventures and 104 fully owned by UK investors. There are also 35 companies registered at the Qatar Financial Center.
