Qatar participated in the meeting of health ministers in the Eastern Mediterranean Region on Covid-19, which was held on Thursday via video conference technology. Qatar was represented at the meeting by HE Minister of Public Health Dr. Hanan Mohamed al-Kuwari.
During the meeting, a number of important issues were reviewed, most notably the current epidemiological situation in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, the proposed measures and the status of the vaccine, in addition to a review of the work of the Ministerial Team on Covid-19 in supporting effective and continuous efforts to control the disease, and a technical report from Covid-19 Ministerial Group.
It is noteworthy that the response of Qatar to the (Covid-19) pandemic was characterised by effectiveness and the integration of efforts between the various sectors of the state, and it succeeded in curbing the spread of the virus. Qatar is considered one of the countries in the world with the lowest death rate from the coronavirus for several reasons, the most prominent of which is the high-quality health care it provides to patients, proactive tests to identify infected cases early, and work to protect the elderly and those with chronic diseases from the risk of infection.
