Nasser al-Naimi, Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Centre for Patient Experience and Staff Engagement deputy chief of Quality, has been appointed to Planetree International’s prestigious Global Person-Centred Care Certification Committee.
Planetree is a not-for-profit organisation that partners with healthcare organisations around the world and across the care continuum to transform how patient care is delivered.
Planetree International’s Global Person-Centred Care Certification Committee is composed of 12 healthcare leaders from across the world. These healthcare leaders are responsible of evaluating healthcare facilities aspiring to achieve Planetree Certification for excellence in person-centred care. Currently, the members of this committee evaluate healthcare facilities across six continents and 40 different countries.
Al-Naimi has been driving HMC’s agenda of delivering enhanced patient experience and this is transforming HMC’s culture to being person-centred, demonstrated by the recent Planetree certification of several of the corporation’s facilities. Al-Naimi’s appointment is recognition of his leadership in the delivery of person-centred care across HMC, according to a statement posted by the corporation on its website.
The Person-Centred Care Certification Committee is an independent body appointed by Planetree International’s board of directors. The charge of the committee is to provide strategic and operational guidance into the Person-Centred Care Certification Programme, an evidence-based set of standards that define excellence in person-centred care around the world.
It is also the group with the final authority to confer Person-Centred Care Certification based on an organisation’s performance against the standards. To date, 195 healthcare organisations in 15 countries have achieved the certification.
Al-Naimi is one of 10 members serving on the Certification Committee. Members represent a range of perspectives, all critical to assessing excellence in person-centred care. They include healthcare executives, clinicians, patient/family partners and experts in quality, safety and evaluation. The international committee currently includes members from eight countries.
Al-Naimi said he was proud to have been appointed to the high-level committee.
“I am honoured to be appointed to Planetree International’s Global Person-Centred Care Certification Committee and am looking forward to making a contribution and bringing a new perspective,” he said.
Al-Naimi expressed gratitude to HE the Minister of Public Health Dr Hanan Mohamed al-Kuwari for her leadership and vision in building a comprehensive, world-class healthcare system for Qatar.
“The sincere and determined vision set by Her Excellency Dr al-Kuwari has enabled us to lead and deliver healthcare programmes that are making a positive impact on care for our patients,” added al-Naimi.
“We are proud to appoint Mr Nasser al-Naimi to this prestigious role on the Person-Centred Care Certification Committee,” said Dr Susan Frampton, president of Planetree International. “His experience and success in guiding Qatar’s first-ever healthcare organisations to achieve Planetree Certification show that he intimately understands what it takes to create a culture where patients and families are partners and where staff all have a voice in ongoing improvement. He is a true leader in the field.”
