* Advanced networking technology enables e-learning and remote learning
* First in Qatar and one of the largest in the region VMware SD-WAN Deployment

Ooredoo, has announced a collaboration with VMware to advance the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE)’s digital transformation using SD-WAN (Software Defined Wide Area Network) technology. As part of Ooredoo’s support for Qatar’s nationwide digital transformation and government excellence, the MoEHE represents the first Qatar government organisation that is standardising its digital transformation on VMware SD-WAN.
In alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030’s goals of delivering a world-class education system, and with the MoEHE’s vision of leading innovative, high-quality, life-long learning opportunities, Ooredoo is transforming the legacy network of 321 schools and kindergartens, the company has said in a statement.
The MoEHE is Qatar’s largest deployment of VMware SD-WAN and is enabling accelerated digital transformation with e-learning and remote learning, the statement notes. Ooredoo chose VMware SD-WAN for this project after a comprehensive testing and evaluation process. With VMware SD-WAN, Ooredoo is ensuring that all of MoEHE’s networking and optimisation requirements are met.
Sheikh Nasser al-Thani, chief business officer at Ooredoo, said: “Ooredoo’s digital transformation partnership with the MoEHE sees cutting-edge technologies support new and innovative educational patterns, teaching strategies and collaborative learning. Ooredoo is using best-in-class SD-WAN technology to assure the ministry’s network performance and security, allowing the MoEHE to focus on their day-to-day operations and delivery of the best education possible to the youth of Qatar.”
The MoEHE’s IT teams can now gain application-centric networking, with better and more granular insight into how schools are using their networks. The IT staff can achieve higher levels of automation, provisioning, management and self-service changes.
Ali Abdullah al-Buainain, acting assistant undersecretary for Shared Services Affairs, said: “The MoEHE’s digital transformation with Ooredoo is enhancing communication between teachers, students, parents and educational leaders in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. E-learning and remote learning are helping produce confident, self-reliant and hard-working critical thinkers who are equipped with 21st-century skills and values.”
“VMware is pleased to collaborate with Ooredoo in their efforts to help the government and businesses with digital transformation initiatives in Qatar,” said Sasha Emmerling, senior director, Marketing, VMware. “There is an accelerating global need for remote work and learning, and VMware SD-WAN can help enable the best quality of experience and application performance needed to be effective.” Business customers can leverage the Ooredoo Advantage, "making Ooredoo ‘Best for Business’, thanks to its breadth and depth of talent, best fixed and mobile networks, broadest portfolio of ICT services and solutions, and for being and a trusted partner for 60 years".
