Qatar Charity (QC) has concluded the first phase of ‘Tamkeen’, an integrated training programme offered remotely via its social media accounts.
The programme was launched in October to enhance the economic, social and psychological skills of individuals, under the auspices of Etlaqq Business Management and Bedaya Centre.
The first phase of the programme included six types of training workshops to "enhance and develop the necessary practical skills, contributing to transforming the ideas of individuals into successful commercial projects that would add economic value to society", QC said in a statement.
Some 45 people attended the workshops. The final projects included eight participations, of which four projects were qualified and would be sponsored by Etlaqq Business Management and Bedaya Centre.
The programme targets individuals with ideas and small projects, and those in need of training to enter the market, in addition to those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and those willing to have a project that ensures a steady source of income for a more stable life.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the first phase of the programme, Jassim Mohamed al-Emadi, director of the Local Development Department at QC, thanked the sponsors and participants.
“The ‘Tamkeen’ programme aims to enable people to have the opportunities ensuring that they led a stable and happy life at all levels, in support of Qatar National Vision 2030 and Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, in addition to achieving community partnership with several state institutions," said al-Emadi.
He also announced the continuation of the programme in the next phases according to the plan, noting that the second phase would include job seekers and people with special needs in co-operation with the authorities concerned and community partners. It is aimed at providing these people with a sustainable source of income.
Dr Latifa al-Darwish, CEO and co-founder of Etlaqq Business Management, thanked QC for launching the programme, which managed to prepare ready-to-start projects in Qatar by providing the basics needed by entrepreneurs in the labour market.
Al-Darwish congratulated the owners of the qualified projects, noting that the programme provides the necessary requirements for the project to enter the Qatari market.
Ahmed Al-Sayegh, director of Entrepreneurship at Bedaya Center, said the ‘Tamkeen’ programme helps individuals to launch their commercial projects, and trained 45 participants by developing their business ideas.
The participants learned the basics of entrepreneurship, working on the commercial model and marketing and financial matters. In the process, they became fully aware of how to launch their own business, Al-Sayegh noted.
The programme included six training workshops, which are "procedures for establishing a project, business model, visual identity, how to prepare a marketing plan for your project, fix the price of your product or service, and accounting".
