Bred and owned by Al Shaqab Racing, Shershab opened his scorecard, winning the Prix des Criques at Marseille Pont de Vivaux, France, on Monday evening. It was the third start for Fréderic Rossi’s trainee.
As he broke from the gate, Shershab sat handily in third position on the outside in the 1,500m race for two-year-old maidens on the all-weather. Perfectly placed by jockey Sylvain Ruis on this sharp-turning track, the bay colt joined the leaders by the beginning of the straight and ran to a comfortable victory by a length in front of Sebs Du Defi.
Shershab is by Al Shaqab sire Shalaa out of Gherdaiya, a stakes-placed mare in the Al Shaqab Racing silks. He is her first foal. She has a yearling filly by Le Havre, recently entered into training with Jean-Claude Rouget.
