The region's leading delivery platform talabat partnered with Doha Film Institute (DFI) for the first hybrid edition of the Ajyal Film Festival by introducing e-scooter food delivery to movie-goers at the first drive-in edition of the just concluded event in Lusail Marina.

To bring together the youth and movie enthusiasts during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, DFI introduced the Ajyal Drive-in Cinema to let people watch premieres collectively, and from a safe distance. For the first time, talabat launched customised short-distance food delivery, enhancing the drive-in experience for attendees.

To place an order, customers needed to open the talabat app and select ‘Ajyal Drive-in’ as a location, and presented with items from Exit 55, Minis Doha, Pepsi, Wazzup Dog, and Al Mandarin. Using the new Loop Mobility electric scooters, talabat riders delivered the food to the parking spot added to the notes.

DFI CEO and festival director Fatma Hassan Alremaihi, said: “Over the years, Ajyal Film Festival has extended a shared space for appreciation of cinematic arts and creative expression while creating significant economic impact across Qatar’s entertainment, retail and leisure sectors. We are deeply grateful for our steadfast partners, especially in these times of adversity, as they continue to help shape the success of Ajyal and reinforce its important role in youth development.”

Francisco Miguel Sousa, managing director of talabat Qatar, shared: “It is an absolute pleasure to be a part of a historic moment here in Doha. For the very first time, Qatar, at Ajyal Film Festival, offered the public the region’s very first outdoor cinema to include food delivery through an app, and ecological e-scooters that are also silent for guests to enjoy the premieres. Yet another proof point that when presented with challenges here in Qatar, solutions will be found and great strides will be taken.”

Customers also got a talabat discount for every first-time purchase of Ajyal Film Festival tickets.
