The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has started implementing the Industrial Area Street 33 Upgrade Project along with converting it into a highway.
The development works, according to an official statement, will provide free traffic flow from 33 East Interchange on East Industrial Street and the Industrial Area Road reaching West Industrial Street.
Street 33 will be expanded from three lanes in each direction to four lanes in each direction to accommodate about 16,000 vehicles per hour.
In addition, two new interchanges of two levels will be built to link Street 33 with Al Kassarat Street and West Industrial Street instead of the two existing roundabouts.
With the completion of the project works by 2022, Street 33 will bring about a major improvement in traffic movement due to its strategic location in the heart of the Industrial Area, significantly cutting travel time and omitting the need to use the local streets.
Street 33 is integrated with the Industrial Area Road to connect traffic coming from Doha towards the Industrial Area and a number of other vital streets, such as the East Industrial Street, Al Kassarat Street, and West Industrial Street, to facilitate access to both Salwa Road on one side and G Ring Road on the other.
Street 33 will also allow smooth traffic flow between the north and south of the Industrial Area and the New Industrial Area through its direct connections with the main local streets, such as Al Karajat Street, Al Manajer Street, Al Banaa Street, and Al Taqa Street.

* New Interchanges Intersection of Street 33 with Al Kassarat Street
The old roundabout connecting Kassarat Street with Street 33 will be removed, and a two-level intersection constructed with a traffic signal to distribute traffic in all directions as well as an overpass that passes over the traffic light to provide free traffic flow along Street 33.
The new interchange is considered as a major link for those coming from Doha in the direction of Al Kassarat Street, and vice-versa.
It also serves many vital facilities and commercial and industrial facilities in the area, especially since Al Kassarat Street extends from north to south of the Industrial Area, connecting Street 1 and Street 52.

* The intersection of Street 33 with West Industrial Street
The old roundabout that connects West Industrial Street with Street 33 will be removed, and a two-level intersection with a traffic light established to distribute traffic in all directions, along with an overpass that passes over the traffic light along Street 33 to provide a free flow of traffic.
The new interchange is an important link for those coming from Doha in the direction of West Industrial Street, those coming from Bu Sidra Interchange on Salwa Road, and those coming from Bu Silla Interchange on F Ring Road in the direction of the Industrial Area via Street 33, and vice versa.
It serves many vital, commercial and industrial facilities in the area, especially since the West Industrial Street extends between Salwa Road and the F Ring Road.
The new interchange will also facilitate traffic movement in the direction of Al Taqa Street, which also connects Salwa Road at Al Sailiya Junction and the F Ring Road at Al Bahiya Interchange.

* Service facilities
The Industrial Area Street 33 Upgrade Project includes the construction of new infrastructure for water, electricity, communications and treated water lines for green irrigating areas, as well as developing drainage network and rainwater drainage network.
