Ahmed al-Shammari clinched men’s 10m Air Pistol gold at the prestigious Amir Cup 2020 Shooting and Archery competition at the Lusail Complex yesterday.
Ali Hassan had to be content with the silver medal while Osama al-Shaiba won bronze.
Al-Shammari gave credit for the success to his training.

“What I’ve gained from my previous experiences since my joining the Qatar Shooting and Archery Association (QSAA) has been instrumental in my success. My training sessions have played a great role in my achievements. I also see many gains in the youth category and it is always a wish that it continues so that we see more promising faces with a great future.”
Meanwhile, in the youth category, Misfir al-Marri won the gold medal in the same event. Talal al-Ali took silver and Mohamed al-Shammari bronze.
The winners were crowned by Shaker Abdullah, member of the National Teams Shooting Committee.
On Wednesday, Saad al-Sulaiti won the 10m Air Rifle gold, while Jassem al-Baloushi and Abdul Rahman al-Sharshani came second and third respectively. In the women’s section Shahd al-Darwish came first, Aisha al-Suwaidi finished second and Maha al-Ali came third.
The action in the Amir Cup will continue till November 28 with the 50m Rifle, trap and skeet events yet to follow.
