The Ministry of Municipality and Environment, represented by the Department of Radiation and Chemicals Protection, participated in a seminar on unified command and control system for emergency preparedness and response, in co-operation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) held via video conference technology.
The seminar, which was attended by nuclear engineers and radiation protection specialists from different countries of the world, aimed at learning about the command, control and communication systems in radiological and nuclear emergencies, and the Ministry of Municipality and Environment coordinated with the State's civil defense council.
Meanwhile, the Department of Fisheries, in co-operation with the Training Department, is organising a training programme on the legislations for fisheries, presented by biological expert Dr Majid Mohamed al-Mohannadi until Nov. 19.
The training programme is attended by inspectors of the Department of Environmental Protection, Natural Reserves, and Wildlife and the Fisheries Department, with the participation of the General Directorate of Coast and Border Security, and aims to explain Law No. 4 of 1983 on the Exploitation and Conservation of Living Aquatic Resources in Qatar.
The training programme includes a theoretical and a field aspect by visiting one of the country's fishing ports to familiarise the participants with how to apply the law during the inspection process on fishing vessels.
