The Ministry of Interior (MoI) said it has caught a number of people for "stirring up tribal strife" among members of the same community and frequently using racist vocabulary on social media.
Through a series of tweets, the MoI said the persons concerned were being referred to the Public Prosecution for the necessary legal measures against them, in accordance with the provisions of relevant laws in force.
The ministry affirmed that it would "not be complacent in taking all legal measures against anyone who adopts a racist discourse to undermine the unity and cohesion of the Qatari society and threaten its security, stability and social peace".
Further, the MoI called on users of social media platforms in Qatar to abide by the laws and not to offend anyone within the society on tribal or racial grounds. The cohesion and stability of the Qatari society is the responsibility of everyone, the ministry stressed.
