HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani chaired yesterday the Cabinet’s regular meeting held at the Amiri Diwan. Following the meeting, HE the Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Dr Issa Saad al-Jafali al-Nuaimi said the following: At the beginning of the meeting, the Cabinet praised the speech given by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani on Tuesday at the opening of the 49th ordinary session of the Shura Council.
The Cabinet also praised the rapid and effective measures taken by the State, based on the directives of His Highness the Amir in his speech, to confront the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, and the success of these measures in reducing the health, economic and social impacts of the pandemic.
The Cabinet appreciated the Amir’s affirmation of Qatar’s firm stances on the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, including the establishment of their independent state on the 1967 borders with East Al Quds as its capital, and a just solution to the refugee issue in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.
The Cabinet welcomed His Highness the Amir’s announcement of the Shura Council elections to be held in October 2021, affirming that the election is an important step in strengthening the traditions of the Qatari Shura and developing the legislative process with the participation of a wider range of citizens, represents a qualitative and historic leap in Qatar’s process.
The Cabinet expressed pride in the rational policies of His Highness the Amir, both internally and foreign, and the comprehensive development renaissance and economic and political successes achieved under his wise leadership.
The Cabinet added that it is a political policy that strengthened the status of Qatar and its positive role in resolving disputes peacefully through dialogue and maintaining peace and stability in the region and the world.
The Cabinet expressed renewed Qatar’s solidarity with Turkey in facing the effects of the earthquake that struck Izmir on Friday, which led to great human and material losses.
The Cabinet expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the earthquake victims, the government and the brotherly Turkish people, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.
The Cabinet considered the topics on the agenda as follows:
Approval of:
1- Appointment of a judge at the Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Tribunal.
2- Renewal of the appointment of a judge at the Qatar International Court to the Qatar Financial Center.
Approval of:
1- A draft memorandum of understanding for co-operation in various agricultural fields between the governments of Qatar and Kuwait.
2- A draft memorandum of understanding for co-operation in the fields of youth and sports between the governments of Qatar and Spain.
Cabinet briefed on school rotating attendance system
The Cabinet yesterday listened to an explanation given by HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Mohamed Abdul Wahed Ali al-Hammadi on the regularity of the educational process according to the system of rotating attendance for students, the precautionary measures in place in co-ordination with the Ministry of Public Health, and the mechanism taken to follow up on the commitment of students to attend and absent, QNA reported.
Covid-19 measures
The Cabinet yesterday listened to an explanation provided by HE the Minister of Public Health Dr Hanan Mohamed al-Kuwari on the latest developments to limit the spread of the coronavirus and the Council affirmed the continuation of work with the precautionary measures taken in order to combat this pandemic, QNA reported.
